Trail Running Holidays in Saint Paul La Roche, Dordogne, France

Trail Running Videos and Reviews

Glynis's review - after her second running holiday with us !!

I had never been on a running holiday before so didn’t know what to expect, but I needn’t have worried as when I turned up at Limoges Airport, Jeanette was there to meet me and at once made me feel very welcome and put me at ease.  I arrived at Lavaud and my home for the next few days was The Farmhouse.  The accommodation and views were stunning, with a swimming pool, tennis courts and gym all available for me to use, there was plenty of options onsite plus the trails to run and bicycles to use, Jeanette had all lots of options to choose from.  Jeanette and Neil are amazing hosts and Jeanette’s homemade food is delicious. The trails are so beautiful and we took time out along the routes to stop and take photographs and Jeanette told me some of the history of the area as we went round the trails.  Millie was our constant companion and she is just adorable.  I completed my holiday with a trail race which was a wonderful experience and a great way to end my trip (thank you Jeanette for believing in me that I could complete it). I enjoyed my experience so much with Jeanette that I returned this year, but for a bit of variety we headed to the mountains this year which was a challenge, but one I would encourage everyone to try as it was such a rewarding experience.  The scenery was breathtaking, so many WOW moments, so many laughs. I cannot recommend Jeanette and Running around France highly enough, a truly beautiful area of France to run and a wonderful host to show you round.

Thank you Glynis, so glad you enjoyed your French trail race and it was a real pleasure to welcome you back on your second trip.

Mandy and Steve's review June 2017 - video below from one of their runs

Just back from a superb few days running in France. If we had initially been somewhat daunted by the possible expectations of a guided running holiday, (the distance, the pace, keeping up with Jeanette etc! ) we needn’t have been. The runs were perfect – beautiful and varied scenery and trails at a pace to suit us, which in our case involved lots of stops to admire the view, (catch our breaths!) take photos and generally enjoy this stunning area. We chose ‘leisurely’ runs for a couple of hours in the morning (around 10k) which left us the rest of the day to explore, sightsee, visit caves, canoe on the river or chill out by the pool or in the numerous cafes. Our accommodation (the Perigord cottage) was beautifully renovated and well equipped with everything you could need as were all the properties at Lavaud and we enjoyed the delicious homemade food that was cooked for us on the terrace overlooking the valley and Chateau opposite. The meals and picnics provided were AMAZING and if it wasn’t for the running, we would have certainly come back a good few pounds heavier! A wonderful holiday for runners and their non-running partners / families alike, with loads to do and plenty to explore and enjoy. I cannot recommend it more highly. Thanks Jeanette and Neil. We hope to be back soon!

Thank you Mandy and Steve it was a pleasure and hope to see you on another running tour soon.

Danum Harriers Review May 2017 - video below from one of their runs

Just wanted to say a huge Thank You to Jeanette, Neil and Millie (who is about the best dog I've ever met, and made sure we were always safe by the pool) for making sure we had a fantastic holiday.
This was our first "Harrier" holiday and we (well Paula Davies) couldn't have chosen better. Our accommodation was amazing, the trails beautiful, the food delicious, the weather perfect. We really didn't expect to be looked after so well, you had planned 5 great days for us, each run different and really made sure we not only saw the best trails but the prettiest villages. Competing in my first 10 mile trail race and first international race was an added bonus and Malc Procter made sure I managed to run my best race. I'm not sure we were quite what you might have expected as a group of runners, but they were all great company and I think we really learnt how to run together as a team, there was always someone there to lend a hand (literally Kenny Marsh, Debs Procter), make sure everyone made it up all the hills (thanks for the push Angelo Larusso) provide a much needed cup of tea Richard Purcell, take some great photos Paul Wright, who also never once moaned about being injured and unable to join us on the runs, I hope you still had a great holiday, supply endless laughs Mark Hudson, be the DJ Simon Piggott and provide a lesson in astronomy Dave Etherington.
Defintely in the calendar for next year

Thank you Danum Harriers - you were awesome fun. Very much looking forward to you all (and more) coming back next year.
